outlet encourages negativity?

Why are there so many diaries that focus on negativity?

Perhaps it is not a fair sample to simply think over the diary names I have noted... and perhaps, even if the sample were fair, it would not be an indication of people in general...

What I mean is that it may be that we use this outlet of a diary to record (and in a way, vomit) our negative thoughts and ideas. In short, we just need an outlet.

A thought that I have had is that once we begin to focus on the negative, we are easily caught in a web of negativity which allows us to become more easily depressed, pessimistic, and in general, focussed on all that "sucks" in our lives and around us.

Just a little thought, barely expanded upon...
