I already smell like pickle

05-07-03 - 1:47 p.m.

2 very cute old women in a car. Jean driving, and Marjorie in the back. I in the passenger seat, listening as they attempted to talk to each other over the barrier of their lack of good hearing. It was quite amusing. We were on the way to the Camera Club banquet... err... get-together (I don't know what to call it). It was at the White Horse in Paris- a smorgesborg (lol I have NO idea how to spell that!). It was good food. Then they showed slides which I thoroughly enjoyed b/c I love photography. My gramma won 3 first prizes for different categories- go Gramma! :)

When I got home from that, my mom was really tired & I told her to come sit in the La-z-boys with me and talk, so she could relax. She suggested we go down to my room b/c she wanted to see something about my new sheets that we bought that morning. When we got there, I found that she had purchased the shelf unit that I wanted to get so badly that morning. How sweet!!!!! We spent the evening putting that together. I slept on the couch.

On to today...

8am- my alarm sounds, I turn it off and fall back to sleep.

8:10- my dad tells me I need to get going. I roll over and fall off of the couch, on purpose, hoping it'll wake me up a bit.

8:15- I'm in the bathroom upstairs, having a shower when the water turns to ice and I realize that Hilary is taking the warmth, down in the basement shower. I could beat her.

9am- We arrive at Strub's... the pickle factory.

9:30- I finally get in, for my interview. We're in- both of us- we've got summer jobs.

I'll work 7am-4, monday through friday

We'll start on Saturdays when Cucumber season picks up. We start at $8.50. We will have much opportunity for overtime and anything we work over 40 hours will pay time & a half. Not bad.

11:15- I return to Strub's for an orientation meeting.

Upon leaving, Greg (in-charge guy) pulls me aside after everyone leaves, to tell me how well I had handled myself in the interview. He told me that I was an confident, very intelligent, spiritual, emotional, and strong person. Wow. I thanked him despite the fact that I was floored. The way he spoke, I'd think he thinks I'm "above" this job. He seemed almost apologetic. The truth is that I just want to make some good money this summer, and I think this will do just fine.

I start tomorrow at 7am (eek! earliness!)

Oh yes, and did I mention that, upon glancing at the punch cards, I saw the name of someone I know. He is known, by certain friends of mine, now as Bisexual Ben. He had quite the little obsession with me in high school and I really haven't seen him since- I have only heard of his new interest in, shall we say, all types. I don't want to judge him at all by what others have said about him, though... If he's the same Ben he was when we were friends in high school, then there's no reason to be weird about it. Whatever happens, this is definately an interesting development!

1pm- Off to Mark's Work Warehouse to buy myself a pair of work boots (mandatory for the job).

I found a very nice brown pair. $100 pair, $30 off... so, not too bad.

2pm- I have just had a bit of corn, and written this entry ;)

I was thinking about taking pictures today, but it's overcast. It's my last chance for fun times before starting work, so I'm going to try and get a friend to do something fun with me ;)

That's it for now!... Hmm, I'm hungry...

An update..

I did nothing of interest tonight. I watched Gilmore Girls, a bit of Will & Grace, a movie, had a nap... did some organizing in my room...

And Dave called.

He's coming- for sure now. Huh. Who would've thought. He wants me to show him all my places- y'know, my old school, etc... I am now faced with trying to think up enough interesting things to show him. I'm also thinking that I don't know my way around Toronto well enough to be a tour guide, but that is one place he'd like to go... should be an adventure. He said he's excited. I am too. I'm bummed to be missing Friday night's dance though. Wish I could have done both. Why do fun things clump themselves on top of each other when it comes to scheduling? Meh. What can you do. When someone drives 10 hours to see you, you skip the dance to hang out ;)

Do you want to see a picture of Dave? Well, here it is:

He's trying to be all studly-like ;)
